BUTTER it up!

The much awaited activity for Thanksgiving Day!

This activity will (as promised) occupy the ankle-biters AND add something special to your holiday table.

What you will need:
  • Grab an empty peanut butter jar or spaghetti sauce jar with secure lid
  • One small container of heavy whipping cream
  • Spices you enjoy
  • Salt (if you like)
  • 1 marble
Easy-peasey directions:
  • Put the marble in the jar
  • Dump the heavy whipping cream in the jar
  • Pass the jar to one of the kids and challenge them to shake for as long as they can, then pass to a sibling, neighbor, cousin, grandpa... whomever
  • ...allow approx 40 min to pass
  • The whipping cream should have separated into two parts-- one liquid, one solid
  • Remove the solid portion of the goodness, place in a bowl
  • Take the liquid portion and add to your gravy or whatever you like
We want the solid portion for our holiday project.

  • Add your spices and a dash of salt, if you please, to the solid goodness
  • Using a rubber spatula, fold the 'butter' over and over again to get the last pinches of liquid from the solid mass (also blending your herbs)
Taaa-daaa, you have now just made fresh butter as a family!!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all!

Enjoy some visiting, take some pictures, share some laughs and eat as many slices of pie as you please :) the celery sticks will be there on Friday.

Embrace the richness of life and try to catch at least one second to stand still and soak up the faces around you. mmmmmmmm.

Cheers!
