Peace for Christmas

Happy Holidays Rubber City folks!

As we are both in search of a religious local that suits our preferences, a friend and I have made a bit of a habit of sharing what was said each week after our religious 'tour' of Summit County. Sounds funny, a little peculiar perhaps, but we cover the ground of two religious locations while only having to travel to one. An exercise in managing our resources.

Friend shared that her service was about Jesus being in the boat with you, though the seas get a little choppy from time to time. Sounds good. Our service was about being spit on when you go against the crowd. The gentleman leader of this particular religious venue offered that good folks should pray for the spitters and smile at them when they hurl luggies (sp?). Hum.

*I think there was something lost in translation, though the thought is probably very good.
Brings a bit of a giggle, doesn't it?!?!

In any event, our humorous relay of sermon topics lead us to chat it up about Christmas wishes. Friend and I, even others have mentioned... PEACE is the resounding request this year.

Certain, there are folks in need of a warm meal, warm clothes, an extra blanket or a kind word (aren't we all). Let's not overlook these needs for our neighbors.

In a time of continued instability, job loss, emotion wear and tear, health issues aplenty... some of us are very fortunate to not NEED any one thing this year. If the house is heated and the bellies are full, what do we really have to complain about, right!?!?

I realize this is lending itself a bit towards the preachy end and that is not my goal. Apologies.

BUT, in the search for PEACE, there is an element of forgiveness, of faith, of seeing through the tough times or spatter and helping ourselves (or our neighbors) find the faith to know that hard times will not last. peace.

Family will frustrate, economies will shift. These things are fixtures in a regular busy life. How we react to the pressures either eases the mind or adds fuel to the fire, I suppose.

When peace settles in, I know that I am able to balance the needs of those around me a bit easier than when I am pulling my hair out :)
Peace of mind. Peace in the home. Peace in the heart.

Not the majical peace on earth malarkey. I don't think we are quite there just yet. But peace in our own little slice of the pie-- well that is just as heart warming as a lovely cup of seaming hot java. mmmm. delic.

Something that warm my heart and bring peace to my mind:
